What On Hold means
On Hold means the transfer was stopped by one of PayMitto's own compliance checks and is waiting on review or a timer.
On Hold is PayMitto-only. No Mastercard, Visa, or MoneyGram provider code maps to On Hold. A held transfer is never sent to the payout network.
Hierarchy framing: PayMitto SLS / Dodd-Frank. Never provider-reported.
What does not show as On Hold
- Mastercard network holds, including RFI and BSAML escrow → Pending
- A Dodd-Frank waiting period surfaces as Pending to clients (it is a normal waiting period, not an exception)
- Provider "Hold" codes that mean network in-flight can map to Initiated, not On Hold
Who sees On Hold
Admin Portal users can see On Hold as its own filter.
API clients and the sender app may see a held transfer as Pending instead. That is intentional: a compliance hold is not something to disclose to the sender as a separate status.
Needs attention: sources disagree on whether the sender SDK shows the words "On Hold." Do not invent that string. Status-map validation is still open.
What to say to a member
From "Why is my transfer on hold?":
"All transfers go through compliance screening. In some cases, additional information is required before a transfer can proceed. If your transfer is on hold, we will contact you with the specific information needed. The transfer cannot be released until that information is provided."
Do not disclose a specific compliance-hold type that should stay internal.
