Quick file tips
| If you see... | It means... |
|---|---|
Transpay in RSP Name |
Mastercard |
| Blank number cells | Usually zero |
| Monday's file is much bigger than midweek | Expected. It covers Friday through Sunday. |
| A cancellation credit with no matching debit today | Expected. The original debit was on an earlier day. |
| A summary row at the end of the Daily Transfers file | It's a total, not a transfer. Leave it out of row counts. |
Why days don't line up
- A transfer appears on the file for the day it became ready for settlement, which can differ from the day it was created.
- Each network has its own settlement day:
| Network | Settlement day |
|---|---|
| Mastercard | Midnight to 11:59:59 PM ET |
| MoneyGram | Midnight to 11:59:59 PM Central |
| Visa | 6:00 AM to 5:59:59 AM ET the next day |
Transfers near midnight can land on different days on different networks. - A cancellation keeps the original debit on its own day and adds a credit on the day the cancellation settles. That can be days later, and for uncollected cash pickup up to about 30 days later. Net the two days together when you look into a cancellation. - A sender who cancels is refunded straight away, but your prefunding account is credited the next business day, after the network settles.
If something still doesn't match
- Re-check the two control totals (debits and credits).
- Check you're on the right settlement day (Eastern cutoff, Monday covering the weekend).
- For cancellations, net the original debit day with the credit day.
- Send anything left over to your Implementation Manager (or open a General Inquiry ticket) within your bank's research window.
